Job Description:
Job Title: Vice President of Production (Cultivation &
Extraction) Job Summary The Vice President of Production is a
senior executive leader responsible for overseeing the full
cannabis production lifecycle, from seed through finished product.
This role provides strategic direction across large-scale
commercial cultivation, laboratory extraction, and product
development, ensuring seamless integration between operations,
quality, and innovation. The VP of Production is accountable for
driving operational excellence, maintaining strict regulatory
compliance, optimizing efficiency, and delivering consistently
high-quality cannabis products that meet both internal standards
and regulatory requirements. This position requires direct,
hands-on experience managing large-scale cultivation operations in
unsealed, open-air greenhouse environments within climates
characterized by significant and unpredictable temperature
variability. Candidates without this specific experience will not
be considered. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic & Operational
Leadership Develop and implement long-term strategies for both
cultivation and extraction, including crop scheduling, strain
selection, and proprietary processing techniques. Direct all phases
of production: from propagation and harvesting to extraction,
purification, and product formulation. Design and optimize
facility-wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all
cultivation and laboratory activities. Manage the total production
budget, overseeing labor, equipment acquisition, nutrients, and
laboratory supplies. Utilize data-driven decision-making and
statistically grounded studies to optimize equipment and meet
quality targets. 2. Cultivation & Extraction Expertise Maintain
optimal environmental controls (HVAC, lighting, irrigation) and
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to ensure plant health. Oversee
daily laboratory activities, ensuring the efficacy and efficiency
of extraction processes. Provide expert recommendations on specific
medical marijuana product formulations to meet patient needs.
Manage vendor relationships for both cultivation hardware and
extraction equipment to ensure optimal quality. 3. Team Management
& Development Supervise, train, and mentor a diverse team of
cultivation managers, laboratory technicians, and scientists.
Ensure all personnel are fully trained on company policies, safety
protocols, and good laboratory practices. Foster a culture of
accountability, high integrity, and safety. 4. Compliance, Quality
& Reporting Ensure full compliance with state and local
regulations, including seed-to-sale tracking and inventory
management. Coordinate with state-approved laboratories for regular
testing of plant material and extracted products. Provide the
executive team with comprehensive reporting on production yields,
sales projections, and process efficacy. Ensure sanitation, safety,
and security protocols are strictly enforced throughout the entire
facility. Requirements & Qualifications Education: Bachelor of
Science in Chemistry, Biology, Horticulture, Agriculture or a
closely related field. Experience: 5 years of experience managing
large-scale commercial cannabis cultivation in an open air
greenhouse in a climate with the “true seasons” Leadership
Experience: 3 years of leadership experience Technical Skills: *
Strong understanding of plant nutrition and genetics. Strong
understanding of fertigation systems, environmental controls, HVAC
systems, etc. Experience with GMP and GAP processes and product
development. Legal: Must be 21 years of age with a valid State ID
and able to pass a rigorous background and drug screening. Physical
Requirements & Working Conditions Physical Demands: Ability to
stand dynamically for long periods, twist, reach, and maintain
balance while crouching. Lifting: Ability to lift and carry 20 to
50 pounds regularly. Environment: Comfortable working in varied
environments, from high-tech laboratories to hot, humid greenhouses
with exposure to strong cannabis odors. Schedule: Ability to work a
flexible schedule, including weekends and extended hours to meet
