As a Laboratory Technician working on the Technical Operations team, you will be empowered to support general lab operations and support lab organization.How you will contribute:

  • Implement processes in pilot lab while strictly following process criteria, environmental health and safety guidelines.
  • Support lab workstreams through preparation of process equipment and analytical buffers.
  • Assemble and operate filtration and centrifugation systems.
  • Operate general pilot lab equipment (such as pH and conductivity meters, turbidity meter, portable mixers, floor centrifuge, etc..)
  • Perform basic total protein measurement assays (Biurette and Solo VPE)
  • Monitor and record important process parameters.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork following GDP/GMP guidelines.
  • Revise and review important documentation.
  • Help troubleshoot process problems and process improvement opportunities.
  • Complete all corrections on run sheets, input data into excel spreadsheets, and file documents.
  • Cleaning and storing of process equipment.
  • Monitor inventory needed for fractionation process to ensure consumables levels are adequate for each planned run.
  • Help with routine sample testing.
  • Train other team members.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment/laboratory.
  • Revise and review documentation.
  • Participate in monthly safety inspections (GEMBA walks).
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace.
  • Help run the pilot scale and small scale fractionation process
  • Organization and cleaning of equipment
  • Consumable and process chemicals inventory update
  • Run sheet review and inputting the data into spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Buffer preparation
  • Complete other value added tasks as directed by lab personnel.What you bring to Takeda:
    • Typically requires at least a high school diploma or GED plus 3+ years of related work experience.
    • Knowledge of laboratory and pharmaceutical production equipment including: process tanks, pH meter, pipette, peristaltic pump, balance ext.
    • Can apply quantitative analysis to analyze process performance.
    • You must be proficient in multiple mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.
    • Can read and follow detailed written instructions.
    • Be able to work in a team environment.
    • Previous Lab or Manufacturing Experience is preferred
    • Highly motivated and strong desire to learn and contribute to the success of the lab.
    • Multitask and complete assigned responsibilities within due date.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
    • Will work in cold conditions for extended time.Complexity and Problem Solving
      • Receive routine and non-routine assignments and complete them under the direction of lab personnel
      • Use most laboratory or process equipment after training is completed.
      • Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action and escalationOther Job Requirements
        • Must be able to carry up to 35 lbs., and push/pull -100 lbs. (with assistance)
        • Able to work in cold environment when needed.
        • In general, the position requires pilot scale manufacturing work, which involving constant moving and standing in a fast-paced environment.

            • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
            • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
            • Work in a cold, wet environment.
            • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours.
