Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Feb 23, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with a 2-year minimum requirement and proficiency in telemetry strip verification. Details - Work in a 29-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit caring for ortho, neuro, and telemetry patients - Patient ratios are typically 1:5 to 1:6, with higher ratios at night - Utilizes wound vacs, PICC lines, central lines, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and nasal cannulas - Handles non-titratable drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin - Epic EMR is used, and telemetry strips must be read and verified once per shift - Scheduled 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required - Ancillary support staff and phlebotomy are available per shift - 45-mile radius rule; local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position Requirements - Active OH or compact RN license required - Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required - Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required - Experience with insulin gtts, cardiac drips, and dysrhythmia interpretation required - Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam on the first day (study guide provided) - Experience reading and verifying telemetry strips required Additional Information - Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and acting as a patient safety advocate - Required to wear navy blue scrubs - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Must be able to adapt to changing patient conditions and respond rapidly as needed - Holiday coverage is required according to the unit's schedule - Orientation includes study materials and EKG testing American Traveler Job ID P-669062.
