Job Description & Requirements - Specialty:PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline:RN - Start Date:07/30/2025 - Duration:10 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift:12 hours, nights - Employment Type:Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Location: Columbus, OH 43210 Duration: 13 weeks Schedule: Night Shift, 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30) Weekly Breakdown: Weekly Gross: $2,155.00 Per Week On W2(Taxable): $720.00 Per Week Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,435.00 Per Week Job Overview:We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in neuro surgery at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of PCU or med-surg experience, proficient with Epic charting, and strong skills in neurological patient care. This role involves rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays, with the possibility of floating to various units within OSU. Responsibilities:Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric patients in neuro surgery PCU, including care for patients with epilepsy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, MS, myasthenia gravis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. Monitor and manage specialized equipment, including External Ventricular Drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and advanced respiratory devices (CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC). Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including arterial and central line care. Utilize advanced neurological nursing skills including craniotomy post-op care, CVA management, and neuro assessments. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response. Participate in unit-based education and ongoing professional development. Qualifications: Current RN license with valid compact or Ohio state license. Minimum 2 years PCU or med-surgical nursing experience (PCU preferred). Proficient in Epic electronic charting system (required). Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required). Skills:IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, neurological and respiratory management. Experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
