Job Description:A surgical technologist apprentice position is open to students who have completed their first level of an accredited surgical technologist program. The student must be in good standing in their program and have demonstrated clinical competence. The surgical technologist apprentice assists with patient care and related activities in the operating room under the direction of an RN or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).ACCOUNTABILITIES*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*1. Assist in opening sterile supplies and moving appropriately around sterile fields.2. Scrubbing, gowning, and gloving themselves and others.3. Organizing sterile field and supplies.4. Draping mayo stands.5. Removing instruments from autoclave and high-level disinfection agents.6. Identifying and handling basic instruments.7. Setting up instruments for cases under directions of CST.8. Assists with transporting of patients, assists with positioning, holding extremities for preps, and washing instruments.9. Cleaning and restocking OR rooms and carts.10. Pulling for cases and obtaining surgical supplies.11. Sterile second assisting duties such as holding retractors and extremities.12. Other related duties as requested.Job Requirements:Education: Must have completed their first level of an accredited surgical technologist program.
